My Shoreline Experience

Waves are produced by wind or storms that can form on the other side of the world. When I went to Florida the past two years for Spring Break I saw different types of waves. The first year that I went to Florida the waves were smaller. The second year they were a lot bigger because it was more windy. It was a lot more windy because the the weather was not as nice. The first year it was suny and hot. Even though in the second year it was still nice because it is Florida, but there were more storms and rain rolling threw the area.

Mount Vesuvius

In science we recently watched a movie on Mount Vesuvius that focused on the violent eruption of 79 AD and the present day status of Mount Vesuvius. One thing we learned about in science is that earth quakes are common right before volcano eruptions. In the movie before the smoke and pyroclastic matieral hit Pompeii an earthquake happened. Another thing that we learned about in class was the different types of volcanoes there are. Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano, which normally have explosive eruptions. In the movie it shows how the eruption in 79 AD blew out pyroclastic matieral, ash, dust, debri, and smoke like in a explosive eruption.

1000 post 3    A minor character with major importance in I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have To Kill You is Cammie’s mom. Cammie is the main character in the book and she goes to  private school for exceptionally talented young woman. At Gallagher Academy they teach the girls how to be secret agents, so it’s definitely not your normal academy. Cammie’s mom plays a significant part because she runs the academy. Even though she isn’t one of the main characters she still helps the main characters at times, especially Cammie.

A minor character that had major importance in the Princess In The Spotlight is Mia’s dad, Prince Phillipe. He had a major importance in the book because he helped Mia and her mother, Helen, when they needed it. I don’t want to go into detail about how he helped them because I don’t want to give away the ending. But, the most important thing is that Mia realized her dad isn’t afraid of his mom, Grandmere.  Also, Mia thought it was good to see that her parents were getting along.

A minor character who had major importance in the book Cheaper By The Dozen is Anne, the Gilbreth’s eldest daughter. The reason she was a minor character in the book is because the book was more about Mr. and Mrs. Gilbreth. Anne was an important character because she was the eldest so she helped take care of the other kids. In the book it never says who the narrator is but we know it’s one of the kids. Some people think she may have been the narrator at least at some points in the book because she is the oldest daughter and narrator of the 1950’s film.

Bailey Hall

Mankind was my business. The common wefare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”

– MarleyScrooge          The quote written above is from the the first stave of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I think the quote is basically Marley telling what his life was about. He is telling Scrooge that even though he tried at work, that wasn’t his whole life. The last line when he says it is only a drop of water in the ocean of his business he is saying that his life at work was just a small portion of what his life was about.

What the quote would mean to us in today’s society would be that we shouldn’t just focus on one thing in our life. It tells us that it is important to have variety in what you work on. If the people of our society just worked on one thing our lives would become boring and we would get tired of it really quickly.

Twilight Post

During my sixth grade year the book that everyone was talking about was Twilight. The movie had came out and everyone loved it. So many people reccommened it, and I thought why not give it a try. As soon as I picked up the book I couldn’t put it down. It was filled with action and every time I tried to set it down I felt myself wanting to read what happened next. This book is part of a four book series by Stephenie Meyer. I finished the book within a couple of days. After I finished it, I moved on to the next book, New Moon. I thought that book was just as good as the first! Now I am reading the third book which is Eclipse. So far I love it, and I plan on reading that last book, Breaking Dawn, once I finish Eclipse.

Three Cups of Tea

I think that when Haji Ali says that “building relationships is as important as building projects.” he is right because you will never get it done if you don’t compromise and get along. I think it took Greg so many trips to Korphe to figure this out because he was so wrapped up in getting this project done he wasn’t really taking into consideration all the work that would need to be done by lots of people working together. In the book several times the men of Korphe have to work together to get supplies to Korphe by walking several miles. They work together to get all the supplies there for their children. If I am fighting with my brother and we get in trouble I realize that what I should have done is just stopped fighting and start getting along because it just ends up getting my own self in trouble. Another example would be if I was working on an important school project in a group. In 4th grade I specifically remember an important project where we had to build a bridge. This was important because at the end we had to test it. We argued at the beginning but when we decided to get along a little better the project became a lot easier.
